Les Saisies

Les Saisies is a ski resort located between Upper Savoy and Savoy, and is the passage between the Beaufortain valley, also called « Tyrol Français », and the Val d’Arly. Les Saisies was created thanks to Erwin Eckl, who came to the village in 1935. A visionary, Mr Eckl said: “Here, on these pastures of the Col des Saisies, on these mountains, it is unavoidable, one day or another men will build a resort where life will be good!”. In between 1150m and 2000m, the Les Saisies ski resort is in the Espace Diamant ski area and has over 185km of marked slopes. Facing the Mont Blanc, Les Saisies was implanted on the southern mountainside, and benefits from excellent snow conditions and brilliant sun, which will satisfy any holidaymaker. In the heart of a preserved area, the Olympic resort was boosted thanks to the 16th Winter Olympic Games of Albertville in 1992, during which the resort hosted the cross country and biathlon events. Les Saisies would not be what it is today without Franck Piccard, who grew up there and was an local Olympic champion who won Gold, Silver and Bronze during the Super Giant and downhill events in 1988 & 1992. Les Saisies is first and foremost the most beautiful cross country ski domain in the Alps. There are many out of the ordinary sporting activities on offer such as: nocturnal snow mobile, ice karting, helicopter and plane initiations around the Mont Blanc, and glacier skiing…
